The Madison Regatta is one of the largest hydroplane races in the United States—hosted right here in Madison, Indiana. And I’ll tell you: Norman Rockwell couldn’t have painted a better community than Madison with just incredible views of the Ohio River.

Every year, thousands of people set up camp at the promised land of the Regatta, where you can taste the mist on the air as the boats scream by, kicking up rooster tails taller than the buildings on the shoreline and just barely edging out each other—in a high-speed finish where literal seconds determine who will win or lose.
