In the world of water sports, whitewater rafting is on a whole other level—harder, faster, and more dangerous than your everyday canoeing and kayaking. And our state has plenty of rivers and reservoirs where you can enjoy a quiet day of sailing, floating on the water. 

But there’s only one place in Indiana where you can go flying down real, high-speed river rapids.  

Up in South Bend, the East Race Waterway is the first man-made whitewater course in the country—and the only rafting course available in the Midwest. This 2,000-foot stretch of the St. Joseph River generates waves over six feet tall,  rivaling the rapids of the Colorado River and guaranteed to get you soaked.
